Brenda Sullivan
clay
Brenda is known for her whimsical yet functional lines of Newfoundland charm, dragons and frogs ceramics. Nature provides limitless inspiration for her sculptural work. “Elements of water” is her newest quest.
A life-long love affair with clay began in Newfoundland forming sculptures. My formal ceramic education started in Montreal at the age of sixteen with renowned Canadian artists Rosalie Namer and Pierre Legault. I opened my first studio gallery in Pointe Claire, Quebec, followed by Schomberg, ON and finally resting in Port Hope with Dragon Clay.
For five decades, I have produced a body of functional, whimsical work.
“Artist in residency,” Medalta (centre for ceramic arts, Medicine Hat, Alberta) and The Archie Bray Centre (Centre for Ceramics, Helena, Montana) brought me back to my first love of sculpture.
