Melanie Day
Oil on canvas painting
Melanie day has been painting for 30 years, and six years ago moved to Port Hope from Toronto. She opened up a gallery/studio space, where she proceeds to work on her art practice full time.
I am originally from England I immigrated to Canada in 1974 and landed in Toronto. I was a clothing designer in Toronto and had a store on queen west for 10 years, where I produced and sold my own clothing line. During the 90’s I worked in the film/television industry as a scenic artist and special effects props builder. I worked on many movies and TV commercial with I.A.T.S.E. During this time I proceeded to stimulate my art practice ( as a passion from childhood) I started painting in oils with various different styles from Landscape to figures. I have had many exhibitions of my work in Toronto, Mexico, New York, Vancouver, Atlanta. My work has been featured on Designer Guys, Marilyn Dennis Show, City TV and many Home decor magazines.
