Melanie developed a passion for throwing on the potter’s wheel at age 12 and has been hooked ever since! She prefers to create pottery with a contemporary look using mainly white earthenware clay and underglazes. She likes to experiment with different glazing techniques and loves to make colourful pieces. Raku (Japanese for happy) is another area of ceramics that she is currently developing her own style in.
Melanie specializes in creating one of a kind ceramic pieces and delights in commissioned pieces, particularly personalized clocks and baby plates. Melanie likes to have fun with her pottery and this can be seen in her yarn bowls which take on a personality of their own! She likes to raise a smile.
She loves to teach others both in her studio and in the community and allows the fun to carry through into her lessons.
