This Irish-born Canadian artist has been painting and exhibiting professionally for over fifty years.
Early influencers include Dali and Picasso, though Stanley’s art really began to come-of-age at the height of the Abstract Expressionist movement in America. Extensive travels around the world are often reflected in his watercolours and large-scale oil-paintings.
Some years ago, Stanley developed and created his own signature ‘Cityscape Series’, which he calls a “unique blend of art and industry”. Metallic and other vivid pigments are fused in an encaustic process, along with conventional oil or acrylic paint; often underlaid with textural media. The use of high-quality plated steel or brass, etc. custom designed and finished, is pivotal in this series.
Ultimately, the possibilities of this ‘out-of-the-box’ MODULAR ART technique are virtually endless – bounded only by imagination, and can be adapted to almost any size wall, tall or wide, formal shapes or ‘freeform’, including convex or concave surfaces, even around corners.
