Terrie MacDonald
ceramics
A graduate of Nova Scotia college of Art and Design I have been working in clay since 1997. I concentrate on creating decorated earthenware for everyday and special occasion use. The intimate relationship pottery creates between object and user is what keeps me committed to my craft. Pottery is a vehicle to celebrate domestic life and remind us of the beauty in fundamental everyday activities.
My pottery is hand built using molds and templates I’ve created. I like to make domestic objects embellished with layers of slip, sgraffito and colourful glazes. Patterns are inspired by textiles, travel, gardening and Persian ceramics.
I attended the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design graduating in 1997. Since then I have worked as a full time potter and shared my love of clay through teaching.
I set up in my studio so all my equipment and processes are visible. I happily describe and demonstrate to anyone interested.
